Our Mission

To glorify God by building up His people to share the good news of Jesus Christ to Mount Vernon and beyond.

Our Vision

A spiritually healthy, multi-generational, multi-ethnic church that worships God, connects as family, grows in Christ, and multiplies disciples for His glory.

Our Story

2015

A Church is Born

Koinonia Church began as a Bible study led by Pastor Cesar and Reyma Muego in partnership with the North American Mission Board and Seattle Church Planting. What started with about 15 people officially launched on September 26, 2015 as Mount Vernon Christian Fellowship, with families from Oak Harbor and Mount Vernon joining together.

2019

Steady Growth

The church steadily grew, baptizing new believers, planting small groups, and building partnerships with Oak Harbor Christian Fellowship. By 2019, MVCF was averaging 70 in attendance and launched theological training through Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary's extension program.

Faithfulness Through the Pandemic

When the pandemic struck, the church pivoted to online worship, daily devotions, and testimonies. By God's grace, members remained strong and offerings even increased. Later that year, the Lord provided a new home at 2111 Riverside Drive, shared with Impact X Ministries.

2021–2022

Back Together

The church resumed in-person worship at Riverside Drive while continuing livestreams. In 2022, new believers were baptized, church camps resumed, and discipleship deepened across the congregation.

A New Name, A New Home

When the Impact X building was sold, God opened another door. MVCF moved into its current space at 2121 College Way and rebranded as Koinonia Church — "fellowship." Attendance peaked at 230 during the 8th anniversary. New ministries launched including outreach to Martha's Place and student engagement at Skagit Valley College.

Raising New Leaders

The Pastoral Ministry Cohort launched, raising new leaders for future multiplication. Members embraced discipleship through iTIM courses, with 60% completing Christianity 101.

10th Anniversary

Today, Koinonia Church is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic congregation committed to worshipping God, loving people, helping believers grow, and making disciples who make disciples. We joyfully celebrate 10 years, giving glory to God for His faithfulness and looking ahead with faith.

Our Values

Worship

"Come and See" — John 4:24; Psalm 95:6

The entry point of the journey: encountering God through worship, prayer, and the Word. Our emphasis is being before doing, soul care and deep intimacy with God rather than mere activity or performance.

Connect

"Belong and Grow Together" — Acts 2:42–47

Moving from simply attending to truly belonging: joining small groups, building relationships, and experiencing life as one family. Rooted in the values of membership, unity, and biblical fellowship.

Grow

"Be Equipped and Formed" — Ephesians 4:11–13

Intentionally discipling believers to mature in Christ, discover their spiritual gifts, and be equipped for ministry and leadership through discipleship courses, training programs, and one-on-one mentoring.

Multiply

"Go and Make Disciples" — Matthew 28:18–20

Sending out disciple-makers to serve, lead, and reproduce, locally and globally. Encompasses missional service, collegiate ministry, church planting, and community outreach.
